Gallup Poll: Many Uninsured Americans Unaware of Health Exchange
KREX News Room
DENVER - Come January 1, 2014, the new health care law will be fully implemented, which includes the government subsidized health exchange.
While we inch closer to that deadlines, many people still just don't understand what it is.
According to a 2013 Gallup poll, nearly half of uninsured Americans, 43 percent, are unaware that they're going to be required to have health insurance come the first of the new year.
In colorado, that means more that 350,000 residents may not know that the clock is ticking on finding insurance coverage.
If you don't get it in time, you could face fines of up to $95 per adult.
Health officials say one of the biggest things you can do now to start preparing is ask your employer if they're going to be offering employees health insurance in 204. Many small businesses will now be able to afford to do it.
