WASHINGTON D.C. - Gun control takes center stage on Capitol Hill. with a special speaker sharing her take on it.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on the issue and the first witness lawmakers heard from Wednesday was former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Giffords was shot in the head after a shooter opened fire in a Tucson parking lot, six others were killed.

"Speaking is difficult, but I need to say something important. Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying. Too many children. We must do something. This is will be hard. But the time is now. You must act. Be bold, be courageous, Americans are counting on you. Thank you," said Giffords in front of the committee.

Representing the other side, Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president for the National Rifle Association.

Congress is considering new gun safety legislation that includes an assault weapons ban, limits on high capacity magazine clips and universal background checks.

Enforce the laws that exist now. Gabby was shot by the mentally ill child of a couple of Federal employees. "We're from the government, we're here to help." Maybe we don't need more government help. Maybe we'd be better off without it.

I will never forget the day that shooting that affected her happened in Tucson. The very first thing that the news media did is try and blame it on a Tea party member. The reporters were genuinely disappointed to find out it was just another young adult strung out on the mind-poison pushed by the Healthcare/Marxism complex. Take notice how there is little to no talk of banning the mind-poison, psyche-bending psychotropics that each and every one of these walking time bombs have been on. Simply stated, there is much more money in pills than in guns.

Ban guns, criminals will still get them, they dont go through background checks. We should then also ban alcohol, all knives, baseball bats, cars, since these kill more kids every year than guns, oh wait they get these anyways. While we are at it lets ban child abuse, oh wait it is already illegal but still more kids are killed every year by abuse than guns. A GUN BAN WILL NOT WORK LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE !!!! WAKE UP !!!

CNN TELLS US THAT THE ASSAULT RIFLE (THE ONE THAT WAS FOUND IN THE TRUNK OF THE SHOOTERS MOTHER'S CAR)(THE CAR THAT WAS REGISTERED TO CHRISTOPHER RODIA) USED TO KILL ALL OF THE VICTIMS AT SANDY HOOK WAS LEGALLY OWNED AND REGISTERED TO THE SHOOTER'S MOTHER (IN A STATE THAT HAS AN ASSAULT RIFLE BAN IN EFFECT.) AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

The liberal mindset, is such, that they think crime is best attacked by taking away from the law-abiding citizen. So. . . does that mean that the liberal mindset is criminal?

I feel somewhat sorry for Giffords. She is being used by the far left communist left as their darling on gun control. Tho she is somewhat a willing pawn, I do believe her mental compasity is diminished.
