GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Authorities are on the hunt for a man involved in an armed incident at a Grand Junction business.

It happened at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Twice Upon A Time Bookstore located near the North Avenue Wal-Mart.

The man reportedly pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded money.

He ran out of the business with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was last seen heading south across the Wal-Mart parking lot.

There were two employees and two customers inside the store at the time of the robbery.

The owner of the bookstore spoke with NewsChannel 5. He said he was not at the register when it happened, but at one point he was close to the man and smelled alcohol on his breath.

He says the employee at the register was shaken up but is doing better after the incident.

NewsChannel 5 also spoke with a Wal-Mart employee, who was working as police searched inside the business for the suspect.

Brandy Barlow said, "I go into work and I get a phone call, and it's an automated thing saying, 'Be careful, there's an armed and dangerous guy ... he's this tall, he's wearing this.' While I got the phone call, I creeped around the corner and saw two dudes in full body armor walking around Wal-Mart, so we're like, shouldn't we be evacuated? What's going on?"

Officers quickly arrived on scene, set up a perimeter and began checking the area surrounding and inside Wal-Mart for the suspect.

Nisley Elementary School also went into shelter-in-place mode while officers looked for the suspect.

The robber is described as a white man, 35 to 45 years old and 5’10” to 6’0” tall. He had some facial hair and what was described as dark brown, greasy hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.

If anyone has information about this incident they can call the Grand Junction Police Department at 242-6707.
