GJ City Website Goes Mobile

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A $6,500 grant from the Statewide Internet Portal Authority has allowed Grand Junction city officials to design a mobile friendly version of their website.

Officials say the city's website receives around 2 million hits every year and they want to make it more readily available and accessible.

"It'll make the information that's on our website available to a lot more people, you were able to access it on smart phones previously but it didn't render in quite a way that would make it as useful as it is now," said Sam Rainguet with the city of Grand Junction.

To access the mobile website, the URL is the same: www.GJCity.org, but thanks to the grant, officials were able to purchase a detection module that recognizes whether a smart phone or a computer is trying to access the site and will bring up the correct version for either one.
