GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction CHAMPS continue to raise money in order to compete in the 27th National Veterans Golden Age Games. On Saturday they held a spaghetti dinner at the End Zone Sports Pub in Fruita.

In addition to good food, attendees at the dinner were serenaded by Spare Parts Harmony, the barbershop quartet.

Money raised will help teammates going to the Golden Age Games. They must pay for their own travel and housing expenses.

Jackie Johnson, the chairman of the board for the Grand Junction CHAMPS, said, "We're trying to make people aware that this isn't just a bunch of people who're just doing something. We represent the city of Grand Junction as the veterans of the United States. And all of us have to be veterans to participate."

There are 12 team members planning to travel to the games. This year the competition is in Buffalo, New York.

If you would like to make a donation, call Johnson at 261-6351

You can also call the fundraising coordinator, David Murphy, at 234-1497.
