GJ Chamber Hosts 2012 Business Showcase

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Grand Junction Area Chamber promoted the idea of buying locally through its annual Business Showcase Tuesday.

The Chamber has been hosting the event for roughly 20 years.

This year's event displayed 70 different Western Slope vendors showcasing what they have to offer.

The event brings a variety of businesses under one roof.

Some are from Grand Junction, and others are from Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Telluride.

"There's so many businesses here who are looking for additional opportunities in getting their information, their products and services out to the public, out to other businesses. This is a great forum to do that," commented Robert Booth from Colorado Christian University.

"With less people living out here it's very important to keep those dollars here in the Western Slope. It's a great impact for all businesses," explained Jeremy Gilley from Spa of the Rockies in Glenwood Springs.

The Chamber is also promoting October as "Shop Local Month," to remind residents to think of local businesses while running errands.

I will be glad to shop local when the local businesses start to be competitive.
