GJ Airport Deals with Snowy Skies

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - It's no secret the valley's wintry weather is affecting local travel.

Grand Junction Regional Airport hauled out snow equipment to keep roads to and from the airport clear.

Flights out of Grand Junction were about 30 minutes behind as many planes had to be deiced.

Delays coming into Grand Junction, however, were a bit worse. Some flights arrived and hour or two behind schedule.

The late arrivals left crowds of residents waiting for their loved ones, but one family didn't mind the hassle, because it meant having their son home from the military for Christmas.

"There's so many troops down range. My best friend just got back from Afghanistan; a lot of people don't get to be home. It's really special to actually be back here when all my friends and colleagues are out there fighting right now," said Jacob Elliott, a medical technician for the U.S. Military.
