Future of Aurora Shooting Memorial in Question

AURORA, Colo.- A commuter rail line is set to be built over land where a makeshift Colorado shooting memorial now sits.

The owners of the dusty lot say they're talking with Aurora officials about how to proceed and are committed to building a replacement memorial somewhere on the land.

The owners' lawyer, Michael Sheldon, told The Denver Post that nothing will be moved "in the foreseeable future.''

The city manager says a solution could come in the next few weeks.

The memorial sprouted up in the lot across from the movie theater where 12 people were killed and 58 were wounded on July 20.

White crosses were erected for each of those who died and candles, teddy bears and flowers are piled up in front of each.
