WASHINGTON, D.C. - A partial government shutdown brought on by the lack of a budget agreement continued Thursday.
A White House meeting of the top four congressional leaders over the situation has apparently produced nothing but bickering.
House Speaker John Boehner left the gathering saying President Barack Obama refuses to negotiate.
On Twitter Boehner added that Senate Democrats are to blame as well by tweeting this:
"@SpeakerBoehner House votes to #opentheparks & museums. http://j.mp/1c6paVJ Why wouldn’t Senate Dems want to do that?"
However the Senate believes that they are not to blame. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tweeted this:
"@SenatorReid Can anyone explain to me why the House refuses to vote on our clean bill to fund the government? pic.twitter.com/vWo3NSvLfL "
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says democrats won't change the 3-year-old health care law as a ransom to reopen the government.
President Obama even got in on the tweets. He did not attack either side, but did show U.S. citizens the impact this battle is having on Americans:
"@BarackObama Here's how the #shutdown is hurting every single state: http://OFA.BO/69ixTV #EnoughAlready "
