Fruita Woman Collecting Donations for Flood Victims
KREX News Room
FRUITA, Colo.- Here on the Western Slope, a Fruita woman is trying her hardest to help those affected by the floods.
Leanda Ridgway wants to show that we're not just separated by a mountain side, and is looking for donations to help those on the Front Range. She says as a community, we need to pull together and pitch in.
“Watching the news and seeing the devastation, there are people that lost everything,” said Ridgway. “As Coloradoans, living in the Grand Valley, we think we are immune and this is a perfect example that we are not. It could happen anywhere and it’s my way to give back.”
She will be collecting several different items like blankets, clothing and food. You can drop off the donations at her family shop located at 1874 Highway 6 and 50 in Fruita.
She will be there all week from 9 am to 3 pm. For more information, call 314-1138.
