Fruita Officials Closer to Revitalizing Downtown

FRUITA Colo.- The Fruita City Council says they're making the development of their downtown a high priority and have a few things in the works to move forward.
Members have been working on a plan for quite some time to help vitalize the area.
They’ve been incorporating feedback from the community for more than a year, which has helped. For example, city leaders say some people are in favor of moving around certain structures, to better connect the downtown area.
“There are two different projects,” said Clint Kinney, city manager of Fruita. “There’s Downtown Streetscape, which we will be talking about widening sidewalks and making them more pedestrian friendly. It will also help ways businesses better utilize outdoor spaces that are there. There’s also the Civic Center Memorial Park. There’s an opportunity to move the stage, so it could be better connected to downtown and work better as a format or venue.”
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, members will continue to draft proposals for the area. But next week, they will be rolling out these plans for the community to see and comment on.
That meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the Fruita Civic Center.
