FRUITA, Colo.- The 98th annual Fruita Fall Festival kicked off Friday in downtown Fruita. The tradition features music, carnival rides, food and crafts.

A local resident who goes by the name of Dusty said, "It's gotten bigger, and the vendors I think better. It's evolved from what was a farm festival, a harvest festival, to I think a festival of people."

Amber Mccallister, a vendor at the event, said, "Fruita Fall Festival is my favorite festival in Colorado; I love it. It is just very family-oriented; there's a little bit of everything."

There were smiles all around on day one.

One 5-year-old boy said, "It's so fun. Tomorrow, I'm going to come back and ride some stuff."

More than 150 vendors claimed their spots at the annual event.

The festival also features concerts and carnival rides.
