Front Range Airport Moves Step Closer to Spaceport Possibility

by KREX News Room
by Associated Press

DENVER- Colorado's Front Range Airport is looking into the possibility of becoming a spaceport, thanks to a $200,000 matching grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The money will be used to see if the airport is feasible in becoming a spaceport.

The Front Range Airport is about six miles from Denver International Airport.

The airport would like FAA designation that would allow companies to launch rockets or space planes.

The FAA also awarded Hawaii a $250,000 matching grant for a similar study and a nearly $24,000 grant to an existing spaceport in California.
