Free Class Teaches Parents Safety Tips

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Since the disappearance and death of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, parents around the country are on high alert.

In Mesa County, Crime Stoppers and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office are offering a free class for parents, educating them on how to teach their children useful safety tips.

Chad Williams, community outreach deputy for MCSO, will be teaching the "Stranger Danger" class. It is free and open to parents with children of all ages.

Williams will go over the basic tips all parents should share with their kids when it comes to safety around strangers and defending themselves.

The class will be held Thursday, Oct. 25.

It will begin at 7 p.m. in the Mesa County Sheriff's Office training room.
