Former Girls Scouts Leader Pleads Guilty To Stealing From Troop

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A former Girl Scout's troop leader pleaded guilty to felony theft charges in front of a Mesa County judge Wednesday.

According to a Mesa County Sheriff's arrest affidavit, Carmen Wysong, 27, admitted to stealing $6,000 from the youth organization for a deposit on a home in Mack, as well as rent, utility and truck payments, as well as other expenses.

Originally, Wysong reported the money missing saying it was stolen.

Under the terms of her plea agreement, she will receive a community based sentence and will pay more than $4,800 in restitution to the Girl Scout Troop she stole from.

Wysong faces sentencing on May 20 at 8 a.m.
