Food Bank Receives $10,000 From Chevron

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies received a check of $10,000 from Chevron Friday.

Along with the check, several Chevron employees lent a helping hand by packing dog and cat food, filling orders and loading trucks.

Officials with the food bank say this was the fourth year Chevron has donated a sizable donation.

"The money is going to help us get more food and pay for distribution costs. Even though a lot of the product is donated, we still have to pay for fuel," said Starlene Collins, manager of the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies.

Officials with the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies say they're very low on peanut butter and turkeys.

The food bank is working with The Salvation Army and other organizations this season to supply enough turkeys to fit the communities needs.

So far, they only have six turkeys, and they're hoping to get several hundred.
