First Day of Parade of Homes 2013
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Friday, The Parade of Homes is back for the 32nd time in the Grand Valley, and there are many new features to be showcased. Although this house may look simple on the outside. It’s the inside that counts. When you first walk into a new home on The Parade of Homes you can expect more than a normal house. "We've got a basketball court, we have a climbing wall. each child has their own bedroom and share a couple of bathrooms upstairs,” said Porter Homes Owner Nate Porter. Many people come to the parade to get ideas. "People are creative, try to think of something yourself. You will never come up with it. And when you see someone’s idea, your like wow that's awesome, I like that,” said Home owners, Eric and Aimee Benefield. Most homes are energy efficient and some you can even use a smart device. "We can control all the features of the home through our iPad or iPhone, Android app, down to security cameras and heating equipment and all that stuff," said Contractor, Michael Maves. Many home builders will be at the parade to give advice and show more features. This is just one of 14 homes and there’s a lot more to see this weekend. The Parade of Homes continues until Sunday the 29th. Then it continues back on October 5th and 6th. Tickets are $10 each, and will be sold at all area City Market stores.
