Female Employee Killed During Incident at Colo. Prison

CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo.- A disturbance inside a correctional facility in Crowley County has left one female employee dead and another seriously injured.

According to the Colorado Department of Corrections, the incident occurred Monday at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility located near Ordway, which is about 45 miles east of Pueblo.

It happened during breakfast preparations in the kitchen.

Two female staff members were involved; the second woman is currently being treated for serious injuries.

One suspect has been identified.

The facility is currently under lockdown, while the kitchen has been secured.

The staff members' names are being withheld pending family notifications.
