Car Show Held at Lincoln Park

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Over 100 cars were on display Saturday at Lincoln Park.

Owners were there to showcase their cars, some of which are orphans, meaning the company went out of business.

The event is the Colorado West Chapter of the Veteran Car Club of America's 37th annual autofest.

Alex West, vice president of the club, said it's one of their biggest shows in the past five years. "There's a significant amount of care that's put into putting these vehicles to the original condition or better. It requires a very in-depth knowledge about all of the mechanics of the car and all the electrical systems that are in them. A lot of history is required and a lot of not really formal education, but more than that you need to get your hands dirty every now and then and go out and have some fun with them," he said.

The proceeds will be donated to breast cancer awareness.

West said the oldest car on display was a 1916 Maxwell feature car.

The river run for orphans was a totally different event than what the car show was about. Nice matching up the picture to the correct article.
