Expanded Aid for High Park Fire Denied

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo.- FEMA has rejected a request from Gov. John Hickenlooper for expanded aid to property owners affected by the High Park Fire.

The additional aid would have gone to uninsured and underinsured property owners who suffered losses in the blaze.

Linda Hoffman, Larimer County manager, says the federal government has determined the extra aid is not warranted.

One person died in the High Park Fire, which started June 9.

Authorities say it destroyed 259 homes west of Fort Collins.
