GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- New Year's Eve is a night that most everyone wants to spend with their significant other, family members or friends to ring in the new year on a high note.

"Happy New Year," said Connie Frei, owner of Rocky Mountain Pub Bar and Grille.

Some local happenings around town include Rocky Mountain Pub Bar and Grille balloon release and champagne toast.

"It's a good night, it really is, friends get together and we all have fun," said Frei.

Another local restaurant is celebrating NYE by raising money for a charity.

"As far as I know, this is one of the only ones [NYE party] that is charity driven," said Ty St. John, bar manager at Ale House.

Ale House will be hosting a martini and cocktail party which is a dress to impress event, and it starts at 10 p.m.

"People can come here and have a great time, and by just having a great time, they are helping raise money for the Latimer House," said St. John.

Other events around the valley include: The DoubleTree Hotel NYE bash. The event starts at 7 p.m. and will be in the ballroom. The band Firefall will be playing along with other local bands. There will be complimentary champagne served at midnight.

Charlie Dwellington's, formerly known as the Red Room and Weaver's Tavern, will have unlimited drinks for $20 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Naggy McGee's Irish Pub will have a band playing and they'll be serving their very own surf and turf, with a bottle of wine.

Rockslide Brewery will have a DJ starting at 10 p.m. with dinner and drink specials.

For those under 21, Bananas Fun Park will have a teen bash for 6th to 9th graders from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

To make sure everyone stays safe, taxi companies say to call 30 minutes in advance, as they'll be busy.

The Rocky Mountain Pub will have a special deal going on with designated drivers.

"We have a designated driver in the bar, well, we actually got three," said Frei.

DD's at the pub will take residents home for only $5 as long as they reside within Grand Junction.

Another local restaurant that's been operating for 26 years, Garfield's Restaurant, will be having several dinner specials. They are taking reservations and say they'll stay open as long as people continue to show up.
