FRUITA, Colo.- There were terrifying moments for a man and his horse Monday morning on Interstate 70.

It happened just before 8 a.m. near mile marker 19.

The trailer came loose from a truck and flipped, trapping the animal inside.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle safely with no injuries, but the real problem was what was inside the trailer.

The Fruita Police Department responded quickly to help save the animal.

They were on scene for about 45 minutes.

Officials say the horse is believed to be OK.

This is a good example of a Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue - requiring the coordinated efforts of the veterinarians and emergency responders to ensure a positive outcome for the animals, safety for the responders, and of course for the animal victims.Would enjoy seeing any pictures or video from this scene - you can send to my personal email delphiacres@hotmail.com We will share your examples with students at the next TLAER courses.Thank you for a good article with details.
