GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The 29th annual Parade of Lights is the biggest parade of the season, and it kicks off Saturday.

This year's theme is "A Fairy Tale Christmas" and has over 100 entries.

There will be four categories and the top three of each will win either $100, $75, or $50.

They are expecting thousands of people to attend the event. Officials say residents will start lining up along Main Street around noon.

"We're just real excited. People have actually been submitting applications since early in the fall. People are really excited about it, and we're just thrilled to have people come in and experience the holidays in downtown Grand Junction," said Kathy Dirks, director of the Grand Junction Downtown Partnership.

Parking is free in the parking garage off Rood and in between 4th and 5th Streets.

More than 15 nonprofit organizations will be out along Main Street starting at 11 a.m. to serve hot drinks and treats.

The parade starts at 5 p.m. on 8th and Main Street, and will go for about two hours ending on 1st and Main Street.
