Grand Junction - A Western Slope domestic violence program will be able to better serve its clients thanks to a $30,000 grant.

The grant award, from the Daniels Fund, will go to Hilltop's Domestic Violence programs, made up of Latimer House and Tri-County Resources. The programs help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray Counties.

The grant money will help provide women and children with shelter, meals, life skills training and group counseling sessions. Those with Latimer House say $30,000 may not sound like a lot, but it will go a long way.

"To some people, maybe big business, $30,000 doesn't sound like a lot, but for us, it's a major component for supporting those services we provide for our families," explained Karla Kitzman of Latimer House.
