Dessert Shops Add Local Twist
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Killing two birds with one stone; that's what two new local shops are doing by selling some sweet treats, while also encouraging hobbies. The Baker's Boutique and A Country Cupboard are both new dessert shops that opened this month which bring a unique twist to the Grand Junction area. "We're actually a baking supply company," said Callie Ash, co-owner of The Baker's Boutique. "We added a little pizzazz to it and made it candy, spice and everything nice," said Michele McCoy, owner of A Country Cupboard. The Baker's Boutique offers four different flavors of cupcakes a day and sells hundreds of baking supplies. "Oh my gosh Grand Junction so needs that, cause we would have to go on the internet to buy what we need," said Ash. The cupcake store opened up on April fool's day but their frosting, is no joke. "The most chocolatiest thing you could ever bite into in your life," said Ash. As for A Country Cupboard, they chose a different day to open up. "We opened up April 15th, to sweeten up everybody's tax day," said McCoy. They too offer various other products including bulk spices which can be bought by the ounce. "We have jewelry, we also have a photographer in the building," said McCoy. The stores are both located near Mesa Mall along Patterson Road. "Come check us out and see what we have to offer," said McCoy. The Baker's Boutique says they'll eventually offering baking classes on how to bake fancy cupcakes and tiered cakes. In the future they hope to hold birthday parties.
