Denver Sheriff's Deputy In Custody for Inmate Escape
KREX News Room
DENVER - A dangerous man is on the run and a Denver Sheriff's deputy is in custody, suspected of being involved in the escape plan.
The deputy has been identified as two-year veteran, Matthew Andrews. He's believed to have helped an inmate escape from the Downtown Denver Jail Sunday night around 7 p.m.
According to our sister station KCNC, authorities are still searching for the inmate, 24-year-old Felix Trujillo.
Trujillo escaped from the jail wearing a deputy's uniform. Authorities do not believe he was given a law enforcement radio or weapon.
According to reports, Dep. Andrews may have agreed to give Trujillo his uniform in exchange for money. Andrews is also suspected of driving the inmate to a getaway car.
Authorities say Trujillo may be armed and should be considered extremely dangerous. Anyone who has information regarding his whereabouts should call 911.
