Degette Introduces Magazine Ban Bill

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

DENVER(AP)- Colorado Congresswoman Diana Degette wants to ban high capacity magazines.

Degette introduced the proposal Thursday. Degette co-authored the bill with New York Democratic Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy.

Degette's district includes the site of the Columbine High School shootings. It is also adjacent to last year's Aurora movie theater massacre. Shooters from both of those attacks used rifles modified with high-capacity magazines.

Although gun control backers hope for more action on firearms, odds are against the magazine legislation passing because of the Republican-dominated House of Representatives.

As they should be. Any infringement to the second amendment is unconstitutional and has no grounds to ever be considered a lawful order for the people.

Until now, I'd never heard of her, but now I'll wait to see who runs against her and give them my full support.

It is a grave mis-statement to say that the rifles used in the Columbine and Aurora theater shootings were "modified" with these magazines. It must be remembered that most of the damage done was with a shotgun in Aurora. The blatant spread of deception by the news media is disgusting and the attack on the 2nd Amendment by Congresswoman Degette--among others--is intolerable.
