D.U.I Enforcement Increasing for Halloween Weekend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Bars are reporting Halloween is one of the busiest weekends of the year, which is prompting law enforcement to step up D.U.I enforcement over the weekend.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is teaming up with the Colorado Highway Patrol to crack down on drinking and driving between October 30th to November 4th.
Bar owners say they see a spike in business around holiday weekends like New Years, St. Patrick’s Day, Fourth of July and Halloween.
The downtown bars say they keep track of patron’s drinks to make sure no one is too over-served, and they do their best to prevent drunk people from getting behind the wheel.
“Not only do we stop service, but we have a policy where we'll get them in a cab and we take care of the cab… We want to make sure that anyone who comes down here and consumes has a good time and gets home safe,” said General Manager of Naggy McGee’s Brian Oliver.
Last year's high volume of alcohol-related accidents around Halloween time prompted law enforcement to make changes this year.
