DA Won't Pursue Charges in Crash that Killed Skier

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Prosecutors have decided not to pursue criminal charges in a fatal collision between skiers on Aspen Mountain.

Forty-eight-year-old Natalie Egleston, of Ardmore, Pa., died Feb. 4 after sustaining a traumatic brain injury after a collision with another woman who sustained minor injuries.

District Attorney Sherry Caloia said Wednesday said there wasn't enough evidence to substantiate that the other skier was criminally reckless or negligent.

Pitkin County sheriff's officials found Egleston had skied down an expert trail before stopping on Spar Gulch, and the other woman was skiing down another trail that merged into Spar Gulch when the two collided. Egleston was thrown to the ground.

Deputy Coroner Eric Hansen says it's hard to say if Egleston sustained the brain injury from the collision or from hitting the ground.
