GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A foundation dedicated to helping School District 51 is looking to the public to reach a fundraising goal to bring more e-readers into classrooms.

The D51 Foundation is looking to raise $78,000 to buy 500 Nooks to disperse to every elementary school in the Grand Valley.

They say they're already halfway to their goal and feel optimistic they'll be able to give students extra reading tools.

"When we talked to the teachers who have used them with their reading intervention kids they see some really interesting results, and that's what we're hoping to do. We found a gap in the district. We want to help fill that and see if this investment with technology can really assist those readers in different learning abilities," said Jennifer Hensel Hildebrandt, director of the D51 Foundation.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Barnes and Noble on 2451 Patterson Road will be donating 15 percent of all purchases made to the foundation's cause.

Customers just have to mention the D51 Foundation e-reader project while they are checking out.
