Custody Hearing For Boys Found In Vehicle on Grand Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A custody hearing was held Friday morning regarding the incident on the Grand Mesa where two small children were kept in a vehicle, and found in a dire situation.

A 2-year-old boy was found dead, and his 4-year-brother was fighting for his life.

While the fate of the 4-year-old boy, Tyler, is unknown at this time, efforts are being made to ensure that his mother doesn't get custody of her son.

Friday morning, there was a hearing at the Mesa County Court House.

The state asked that Tyler Jensen be in custody of the Mesa County Department of Human Services.

Heather Jensen's presence in the court room was by phone due to her being in Denver at the Children's Hospital with Tyler says Jensen's attorney, Ed Nugent.

Nugent was in the court room on her behalf.

The judge granted primary custody of Tyler to the Department of Human Services until Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Jensen is allowed supervised visits with Tyler.

The order does expire Dec 11., unless a petition of neglect is filed, in which case the order will extend 60 more days.

NewsChannel 5 crews are continuing to obtain information on this case.

We last heard from the step-grandfather this morning at court, who said Tyler isn't doing well.
