PALISADE, Colo.- A large crowd gathered on Saturday at Mesa View Park Vineyards to celebrate the joys the spring season brings.
Folks from across the valley took part in the Blessing of the Vines, which is an event that is supposed to bring good luck to farmers in our area.
Participants NewsChannel 5 spoke with say events like this one bring back memories of their childhood.
“When I was growing up our parents made wine at home,” said Mary Velon, participant. “Wine was not available commercially and they would do, just like Lucile Ball did in the movies, they would stomp on it.”
“I think that once we got into farming we realized you need all the luck you can get,” said Brooke Weebb, owner of Mesa Park Vineyards.
It was the third time owners held the blessing.
They say every year it draws a larger crowd.
