GRAND MESA Two people struck and killed by an SUV, just off of Highway 65 on the Delta County side of the Grand Mesa, have been identified.

Grand Junction residents Glen and Linda Eyre, ages 65 and 63, were both killed Saturday morning after they were hit by a Ford Explorer in the Winter Trail Head parking lot.

According to the Delta County Coroner, the couple died from multiple traumatic injuries.

Colorado State Patrol says the two people were killed after the driver of a Ford Explorer lost control of his vehicle while swerving to avoid striking another vehicle pulling out in front of him.

Colorado State Patrol officials say the accident is still under investigation.
