Mesa County Moves Forward with Fairground Planning

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Mesa County officials are moving forward with the community planning process that will help determine future development at the Mesa County Fairgrounds.

Officials say the master plan will serve as a blueprint for what the community might like to see added or improved.

They will then look into making those changes in the future.

"Over the next few months there would be additional opportunities for people in the community to say what they think the fairgrounds should look like in the future ... meetings with business leaders, community leaders and user groups of the fairgrounds, as well as just an open house for the community to say, 'Here's what we think we'd like to see at the fairgrounds,'" said Jessica Peterson of Mesa County.

If you would like to give any input on what the fairgrounds should look like in the future, you can call 970-255-7107 or email officials at fairgrounds@mesacounty.us.

Officials say they hope to have the master plan completed and ready for adoption by the end of 2012.

They also say no projects will be built or budgeted for until they've gathered all the feedback they need to complete the plan.
