County Commissioners Encourage Public Opinion at Meetings

by John Dias

Montrose - Montrose County officials are encouraging members of the community to participate more in local government. The county commissioners recently announced the dates of this year’s town hall meetings, and are hoping members of the public will come to the events, ask questions, and learn about what the commissioners do and how they can help.

“It’s a time for clarification. Which is good, ya know. People get to find out more about how their government works,” said Montrose County Commissioner Ronald Henderson. “We’ve had four last year, and they went very well, and this is a great opportunity for the citizens to come in an informal setting, ask questions other commissioners about anything they want to talk about.”

Henderson, the commissioner for District One, said that sometimes citizens don’t understand what county government does versus state and federal government.

“People do get a little confused or do not understand what the county government could do, and this is a great opportunity for Montrose taxpayers to learn right from the horse’s mouth, literally, what’s going on and how come things happen the way they do,” said Henderson.

Starting on Thursday, the commissioners are hosting four town hall meetings throughout the year, and are encouraging members of the community to come see what they do, and ask any questions they may have about Montrose County. For more information, click here.
