Mesa County Commissioners Approve 2013 Budget

MESA COUNTY, Colo. On Monday Mesa County Commissioners approved the 2013 budget, which focuses on infrastructure improvements and keeping residents safe.

The overall county budget will be slightly more than $157 million, up about five percent from the last budget.

It invests $44.5 million dollars on infrastructure and community planning and $41.3 million on public safety. $41 million dollars will be invested in capital projects, including the new Workforce Center, road and public safety infrastructure, public transit and the Riverfront Trail.

The budget was approved two to one, commissioner Janet Rowland did not vote yes. One issue she had was regarding the vacancy savings calculation.

Yeah, but Garfield County isn't an armpit!

According to the current census, Mesa County is almost three times as large as Garfield.

Why can Glenwoody get by on $57 million but it takes The Peoples Republic of Mesa County 3 times as much money? Something is fishy with this budget.......
