GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- It's a sad ending for the family of a missing Mesa County man.

The coroner's office has confirmed a body discovered over the weekend is that of 51-year-old Kenneth Cottingham, whose wife first reported him missing a week ago Tuesday.

Cottingham's body was discovered in an irrigation canal by a couple walking their dog near Interstate 70 off Horizon Drive.

They found him not far from where his vehicle was found, which was near the area of 28 Road, south of I-70.

According to his wife, Cottingham had made suicidal statements prior to his disappearance.

Coroner's officials say due to the manner of death, no further information will be released.
