SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo.- The U.S. Ski Team's training course at Copper Mountain is on track to open next week, nearly two weeks earlier than it did last season.

The U.S. Ski Team speed center at Copper had its inaugural season last winter.

The course allows top American skiers to do early-season speed training without having to go New Zealand or Chile.

This season, Copper Mountain started making snow Oct. 2.

Officials say it has been working around the clock since then to make sure the ski team's run would be ready for training as early as Halloween.
