Construction to Begin on Canyon View Medical Plaza

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The plans for Grand Junction's new Canyon View Medical Plaza are all drawn out and ready to go for the first phase of construction. The plaza is expected to be one of Colorado’s premier outpatient medical centers and will break ground on Wednesday.

“We’ve become excited that we can actually offer this project and more groups and more people to get together,” said Mitchell Copeland, orthopedic surgeon at Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

The joint venture between Community Hospital and several local physicians has become what officials say, a needed opportunity for our community.

“We are going to have outpatient services, and improvement in technology, offer more services in our office and we are going to have state-of-the-art facility,” said Copeland. “There will be ease of access, in and out.”

Officials are hoping the new project will position them well for the future, as no one really knows how the health care industry will transform in the coming years.

“Health care is changing,” said Chris Thomas, CEO and president of Community Hospital. “You have the Affordable Care Act, you have heath care reform, and you’ve got the transition from inpatient care to outpatient care.”

Thomas says the new facility, that will sit just west of 24 and G roads, will be full of state of the art equipment.

“We are going to have imaging center, we are going to have orthopedics, we are going to have neurology, and then the surgery center is going to be in this campus as well.”

“Being this close together, the economy scale, improved technology, more services, it will be a nice thing for this community,” said Copeland.

The medical plaza is expected to be finished by December of 2013.

Community Hospital officials say they don't plan to start construction on the hospital's new facilities at the Canyon View Medical Plaza until the center itself is completely built.

Not to say i dont agree with the technology and health care we are needing but did they really have to demolish the 27 trees that were beautiful to drive under? They were all right by the road. Oh wait.. guess they would distract the view of the "medical facility". so ridiculous.. and people complain about oil and gas!?!

People in this town will complain about everything and try to give it a political twist. If we could give these people a million dollars in cash, they would complain about the size of the bills.

New Resident, the key word you used is "give." As you will find out over time the local Healthcare/Marxism complex is more about taking than giving.
