Computer Virus Locks Up Screen

DENVER- A new computer scam that's popping up around the world locks up your computer and asks for $200 to fix the problem.

The screen has the FBI logo and says the computer has been locked because it's violated federal laws and the user must pay $200 within 72 hours or they will be arrested.

Although it's a scam, the computer is locked and restarting the device won't get rid of the screen.

Officials call it a "drive-by" virus, which means it can be picked up by surfing the web and there is no way to know which sites are infected.

Computer experts say you can protect yourself with an anti-virus program.

Experts advise not trying to fix the problem yourself, unless you're sure that you can.

The repair will probably cost less than $100.
