Community Golfs in Memory of Local Resident

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- On Saturday the community golfed in memory of a local resident. They also raised money for the disease that took his life.

Earlier this year Scott Elwood Lampton passed away from Huntington's disease. The degenerative brain disorder slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, talk and reason.

His wife, Rebecca Lampton, became his caregiver. Together they created the idea for the foundation before he died.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will help fund research to find a cure for the disease.

Scott was an avid golfer. Rebecca said, "He would've been just elated, thrilled. Because I really felt him out on the course."

Organizers say they plan to make this an annual event.

Over 20 golfers participated and 16 businesses sponsored holes at the Adobe Creek National Golf Course.

If you would like to make a donation to the Elwood Foundation, you can do so at Western Rockies Federal Credit Union.
