"Identifiers can only be added if a valid military id is present and for $15 will be added to the bottom right corner of the card." SO let me get this straight, someone volunteers to serve our Country, and the State of Colorado finds another way to exploit that pride by charging $15 to put an icon on the lower right corner of their Drivers License. What a scam! Our Service men and Women should be granted all of the Honor we can give them at NO CHARGE to them. I feel that NO MEMBER of the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Gaurd should be paid any less than TWICE the amount of the lowest paid member of Congress or the Senate. It is a crime how this Country takes advantage of our Miltary Members.

Try getting help from the VA. In the last 6 months I have had serious trouble getting answers from those that are supposed to help. I have had paperwork that I have filled out was never filed like it was supposed to and when on the rare occasion been able to talk to a live person to get answers, I have been straight up lied to by those people. If the federal government treats vets this way, why would you think it would be any different on the state level.

How stupid, all vets that are service connected have VA ID cards. And those that are retired have retired ID cards and also VA ID cards. If your in the VA system then you have an ID card! $ 15 bucks to identify your service how lame! By the way GJ I have never been treated so badly by a Republican city as a 20 year vet than in Grand Junction Mesa and Delta Counties and that's the truth. Oh as long as your not a Democrat service member or retiree you may get treated a little better. Just don't tell them your a Dem!

@USMC Dad - I'm in total agreement! If the federal budget needs cuts, start with all the benefits given to members of Congress that sooo far exceed what all veterans receive. As for the logo on the DL, what purpose does it serve for a $15 fee? Colorado must be desperate. Pathetic.

Why the charge? The cost is probably less than .50 Wake up Colorado.

Micah, you are not alone. This same thing has happened to my husband. VA is a waste of time. You fought for your Country and you get a slap in the face when you try to get the help you deserve. I'm sorry but that's the facts.

Micah, You need to talk to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) at the VA in GJ, there down the Colorado hallway just past the pharmacy! Walk in turn left and it's the first right. Then down the hall about 3 doors to Dave Dunnigan's office. Or if you prefer another service organization of you choice you will have to locate one. I have never had any problems with the DAV, they have helped me several times with filing claims with the VA! Hope this helps....

@Vet. It was Dave who originally failed to actually file some of the paperwork I filled out 14 years ago, and on more than 1 occasion since then paperwork I have filled out in his office has failed to be filed also. Not to mention the last time I asked him about the status of my claim, he spent 2 seconds looking at his computer and then told me the "system was down". Instead of saying something like I will call you when it gets up and I have a chance to look or something like that, all he said was "can't help you bye".

Not true "Vet" who says "how stupid". All vets do NOT have a VA ID Card. If you are not retired you do not have an ID....If you do not qualify for VA health benefits because you make too much money, you do NOT have an ID card...I think their needs to be a veterans ID card that is not just for healthcare. Serve your country and you get no acknowledgement whatsoever!
