Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge Kicks Off

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Grill masters from across the country are heading for Grand Junction this weekend for the 7th annual Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge in Lincoln Park.
The three day event kicked off Thursday evening with a BBQ 101 course taught by BBQ World Champion Kelly Wertz.
Local residents had the opportunity to learn some tips from the two time champion of the Pork and Hops Challenge.
The event will continue Friday afternoon with Craft Brew Night, featuring local brewers such as Copper Club, Kannah Creek, Palisade Brewery, and Suds Brothers.
There will also be live music Friday evening from Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband and Little Texas.
Saturday features a various activities from sunrise to sunset.
The day kicks off with the Amateur Backyard BBQ Rib Competition, and those interested in participating can still register at the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation office.
The Western Colorado Mustang and Ford Club's Car Show kicks just prior to noon, along with various food, beer, and craft vendors.
At 12:30 p.m., The public will have the opportunity to sample BBQ from professional teams in town.
Lastly, live music from LeverAction, the Led Stetson Band, and Joe Diffie will complete the weekend Saturday evening.
