GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- After years of studying, and dedicating time and energy to an education, several hundred Colorado Mesa University students celebrated their college graduation Friday morning.

It's the university's second annual December commencement ceremony with more than 450 students qualifying to receive their degree.

Nearly 275 students attended the ceremony Friday.

"The class sizes are great. All my professors, I know their full names and all their life stories. They really care and they want to support us. They're helping me find career placement, so it's great," Julie Camper, CMU graduate.

Students received either an Associates, Bachelor's or even Masters Degree helping them open up new doors, and bring more opportunities to their lives.

"It was a lot of fun, it made me feel young again. Made me feel like I was back in college. My husband loves saying, 'Yeah I'm married to a college chick'," said Diana Winters, CMU graduate.

Some students are looking to become a nurse, or even open up their own business.

"The most challenging part was the online classes, that wasn't something I grew up with. The most rewarding part was meeting new people and being in this industry," said Debbie Boydstun, CMU graduate.

Now the students can pack up their books as they step out into the real world.

"Ive always been motivated and I just want to get into the work place and start my career," said Camper.

"I'm very proud to be 52, and very proud to be graduating today, very happy," said Winters.
