Colorado Candidates Prepare for Saturday's Debate

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Candidates from across Colorado are in the Grand Valley for this weekend's Club 20 debate.

Club 20 kicked things off with a steak fry at the Cross Orchards Historic Site Friday night.

Club 20 says the dinner was a way for the politicians to get to know their constituents, public and opponents better.

Despite the competition among candidates, the overall atmosphere was friendly.

Republican Rep. Scott Tipton, who already holds the seat for Colorado's Third Congressional District, mingled with the crowd.

His challenger, Rep. Sal Pace, a Democrat, also spoke with attendees.

The race between Tipton and Pace is one of most highly anticipated races this election.

"No hard feelings to my opponent; he's a nice guy. We just have too much fighting in Washington and we need folks who can work together instead of fighting all the time," said Pace.

"This isn't about a scoreboard of how many Republicans or Democrats are there. This is going to be about solutions we're putting forward," added Tipton.
