Color Sunday Adventure Challenge

MESA,Colo. On Sunday hundreds of people gathered at the Color Sunday Adventure Challenge at Powderhorn Mountain Resort.
The fall is here and is one of the obstacles that the runners had to overcome at Color Sunday, was the adventure challenge race.
For one mother and son team clapping was a proud gesture to their favorite part of the race and that is that they, "Finished...The finish line and all the mud,” said runners Helna and Robert Bouley.
Officials at the race say this was the best time of the season for this event.
"The colors are beautiful, so it’s the peak of the fall foliage, so we couldn't ask for a better weekend,” said Gabrielle Michna,” Sales and Marketing Director at Powderhorn.
The Color Sunday adventure race challenge consisted of a 10k and 3k races.
And with the snow already on the mountain officials are gearing up for this winter.
"We continue to do lift maintenance to make sure our lifts are more reliable then they have been in the past and also safer,” said Powderhorn General Manager Sam Williams.
“We’ve done quite a bit of road construction with the entry way and repaving of the road,” said Michna.
All proceeds of the weekend will be split evenly between the Powderhorn Racing Club and the Western Slope Center for Children that is an advocacy center for children.
"Where it's comfortable to the kids and the families to illicit information form the kids if there has been some incident that happened to them," said Western Slope Center for Children Executive Director Shari Zen.
There are more than 250 athletes participating in this years Color Sunday Adventure Challenge and it’s all going to a great cause.
