Colo. Civil Union Bill Passes

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

DENVER- The idea of gay couples being provided rights similar to marriage moves closer to a reality.

On Wednesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved SB 11 on a 3-2 party line vote, with both Republican Senators opposed.

After the committee heard testimony from those for and against the traditional marriage on a civil unions bill for more than four hours, supporters were elated to hear the news.

"Who else's rights should we put on the ballot and vote on? I think it's something our system of government deserves, that we are all treated equal under the law," commented State Senator Pat Steadman.

SB 11 continues a number of steps before heading to Governor Hickenlooper's desk.

It's expected to be signed into law in March and become law on May 1.

Democrats have tried to pass civil unions for the last two years, but House Republicans defeated the measure.

Jeff, natural equality cannot be legislated, only unnatural equality can. You liberals love unnatural as well as illegal, your representatives have more than proved it since the last election. The more liberal the state and nation becomes, the greater its plunge into the grave the liberals have dug for this country. Only then. will the truth reveal itself to ya'll. And there won't be anymore people around who will fight for you, in case you haven't noticed, your prez has listed veterans as terrorists. We will fight for Americans, but we won't fight for those willfully destroying our country.

And Scott, the ACLU doesn't protect the rights of Christians, they typically protect the rights of criminals and anyone against religion. And answer me this, if gay marriage is allowed will it stop there? And to Jeff, yes I agree divorce is a huge problem and something Needs to be done there too.

This proves a theory I've had for awhile, liberals are only tolerant when you agree with them. When you disagree your called everything in the book. Floyd im with you brother, these people ate the shining example of the crazy liberal left.

The republican party will never win another election unless they find a way to change the rules. They will certainly never have the minority vote, women, or gay community. Hillary will be the next President. Have a nice day Floyd, Thanks for fighting for the right for all Americans to enjoy the same equality.

Scott, what you are saying about animals is displaying your ignorance of knowing about animal domination rituals. Even though they have been proven wrong many times, the gays still point to the animal ritual. "Tolerance", is the most abused word in the world of gays, if you don't believe like they do then you are intolerant, or a bigot or a number of other words they like to use. Effeminate is a word for them, maybe some of them would like to use that word. Sodomite is another. WS, now that you people got what you want there is now available reports about victims of abusers of pot. You people did a good job of keeping that information under wraps untill after the election. It might not have gone well for you if that info was available before the election. Your allies in the MSM did a great job, now the abuse can begin in earnest. Note: I am using my freedom of speech, I fought for it as a young Marine, and I will continue the fight.

Notice anything odd about Me 2.0 and Floyd? They both hate gays and freedom of speech unless it's theirs, and they hate marijuana and call it dope! Now what does that tell you? Republican, Conservative, Christian, liberal hating, closet homophobes and both are probably over 60! Yep that's about it and on par with the Western Slope mentality of stupid is as stupid does......

I think the "Tradition" of divorce is destroying marriage.

Scott said on Friday, Jan 25 at 6:53 AM

So if you have an ice cream cone, and someone else who doesn't have one gets one, it ruins yours? And the ACLU has along history of defending the rights of Christians, when they're right. It just so happens that on this issue, they aren't.

Viewing gay marriage as normal destroys traditional marriage. Marriage is between a man and a woman peroid. It doesn't matter if two people are consenting adults, or not. If two homosexuals want to live together, leave their property to each other or whatever that's fine. The problem is civil unions won't be the end. And if you allow gay marriage then everything else will have to be allowed, no matter how perverse or whatever, because if it's not allowed the ACLU will get involved and we all know where that goes.

Scott said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 11:38 PM

Floyd, You might want to re-think that. Homosexuality is well-documented in hundreds of animal species. There is nothing unnatural about it. Me 2.0, Marriage (or civil unions) is a contract between consenting adults. Not cars, not kids, not lions, tigers or bears. Can you come up with one good reason why two consenting adults should not be allowed to enter a civil contract on the basis of gender? What other contracts are denied to people on such a basis?

Me 2.0 said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 9:40 PM

Well if we legalize gay marriage who is to say other's won't want the right to marry other things or people. If we tell them no, won't we be violating their rights?

Me 2.0 said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 9:38 PM

Well said Floyd.

Floyd said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 8:27 PM

One of the absolutes of nature is; "natural reproduces, unnatural doesn't". The next thing they will do is legislate natural absolutes out of existance, they don't want to have to compete with nature.

Scott said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 5:37 PM

Right, because cars are almost synonymous with living, adult human beings.

Me 2.0 said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 5:09 PM

Hey I want the right to marry my car, when do I get to do that?

Scott said on Thursday, Jan 24 at 4:25 PM

Can't wait for this to be challenged and have a high court decide the issue once and for all. Discrimination is discrimination.
