Cold Case Investigators To Review Birgfeld Case
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP)- A team of cold case experts will soon be examining Paige Birgfeld's death, which has remained a mystery for years.
A spokeswoman for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that the agency's Cold Case Review Team will look over the case next month.
34-year-old Paige Birgfeld of Grand Junction had been missing since July of 2007. DNA tests confirmed that human remains found in Delta County last year belong to her.
Officials consider Birgfeld's death a homicide, but they haven't been able to determine the circumstances surrounding the crime.
Mesa County authorities have previously expressed their suspicion of a client of Birgfeld’s escort service, but he has never been charged.
Information on the case will be provided to the CBI’s team on September 12.
Officials are stressing that the case is not being handed over to the CBI. The team, consisting of about two dozen public safety professionals, only offers advice and recommendations.
