Grand Junction - The number of men, women and children who are victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault is on the rise in Mesa County. Many of those victims turn to the Latimer House for help. The nonprofit Latimer House offers shelter, counseling and other services to assist victims.
To raise funds for those services, Latimer is currently holding their annual Extraordinary Women fundraiser, selling coffee mugs designed by a local artist.
While the mugs themselves are the same, each are packed with unique goodies. For $35, you'll get the mug filled with a notepad, specialty coffee, lip balm, a toffee bar, and more. For $50, you'll get a coffee mug packed with items from Enstrom's, including toffee and chocolate bars, and boxed truffles.
All proceeds raised from the mugs go to support the Latimer House.
"Every year, we seem to be serving more people, so it's critical that every year, we need to find more sources of funding to support the services that we do," said Karla Kitzman, the family services coordinator at Latimer House.
If you'd like a mug, you can place an order by calling 263-2582. You can also stop by the Latimer House at 1003 Main Street, just east of downtown Grand Junction.
