FRUITA, Colo.- Downtown Fruita is being transformed into a beach for their annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival.
The 15th annual event is getting a new theme this year, "Mikeritaville."
The festival will feature sand volleyball, sand castle building, a tiki bar and limbo contests.
Officials say this will be one of the most exciting festivals of the year and are anticipating a very large crowd.
“We do have people coming from Denver and Evergreen and Utah and so it really does bring in a good crowd but as usual, a lot of locals as well,” said Kelley Griffin, special events supervisor.
Entrance to the festival is free, along with many of the games and activities.
All the fun starts Friday at 4 p.m. right in front of the civic center on East Aspen Avenue in downtown Fruita.
